Kinoshitakabuki co-worked with three directors to challenge all part performance for one of the three Kabuki master pieces as the final compilation of “Kyoto – Yokohama Project”. Junnosuke Tada worked for 2nd act “Tokaiya / Daimotunoura” and Kunio Sugihara worked for 3rd act “Kokingo uchijinishi / Shiinoki / Sushiya”, Momoko Shiraga worked for 4th act “Yoshinoyama”- dancing part and three directors co-worked for “Kawatsura hougen Yakata as known as Shinokiri” – ending part. Each parts are re-directed and came in 4hour and 45minutes of full-length piece. In contrast to current popular Kabuki, which tend to perform each acts separately, Konoshita kabuki dare to perform all acts thoroughly in present work. Kinoshitakabuki re-interprets “Yoshitsune senbon zakura” as “We/ Yoshitsune meet thousands of/ senbon, people/ zakura, cherry blossom trees”, and recreates as an omnibus style Kabuki show. In Tada’s work, the original time setting, turbulent period due to a long war between two major warrior clans is synchronized with current Japanese society after 3.11, the huge earth quake in northern region. And the classic drama was sublimated as a contemporary theatre based on the strong sociality. In Sugihara’s work, several Kabuki stage direction method are appropriated poppy and critically. And the absurd world of Kabuki story is compared with current poor relations like modern peoples, to be re-created as a humane drama. In Shirag’s work, embodiment of Kabuki-buyo, Western ballet, or Contemporary dance are compared and/or fusioned. “Japanese traditional embodiment and formalism for expression” which have been eliminated was reconfirmed and her original “Form of dance” is structured. As a result of re-interpretation based on thought and method of three directors with an aspect, “Japan”, several “Modernity” have unveiled from the classic master piece. It is literally a master piece.
