Sumida-gawa
A stage director, Momoko Shiraga, who created two pieces with Kinoshita-Kabuki, has made a unique approach on modernizing Kabuki. This time she approaches “Sumida-gawa,” which is one of the leading ‘Madwoman’ stories in Japanese classic theatre.
With her deep understanding of the story, she finely describes the colorful emotions from the bottom of her sophisticated body. How can she express the feelings of a woman who ends up turning to be mad looking for her beloved son?
This is the very first co-production by Momoko Shiraga, Yuichi Kinoshita and Kunio Sugihara.

Musume-Dojoji
Musume-Dojoji” produced by Kinoshita-Kabuki has been staged multiple times as a piece of 30minutes solo-dance performance since its premier in 2008. Being the 4th reproduction, it returns as a 60minutes full length piece for the first time. Kitamari, a choreographer, director and dancer, performs this ‘Ogress’ story which is one of the best-known classic theatres and is among the greatest works of Kabuki. With her strong mind and beauty holding passion and calmness inside, she describes the true character of a deep affectionate woman who helplessly changes into a serpent for her strong love.
